Part of a cars bodywork could double up as its battery

Thanks to a new material being developed by Imperial Engineers and Scientists and European Union partners, including Volvo. This new material under-development is designed to be part of the bodywork of a car and could double up as its battery.

The material is capable of storing and discharging electrical energy, and it is also strong and light enough to be used for parts in future hybrid Vehicles, to make them ligher, more compact and more enrgy efficient.

The researchers have recently used the material to create a prototype car boot.
