Yesterday, we reported that TECNO, a leading market maker of smartphones in Nigeria is set to fulfill its promised Corporate Social responsibility to illuminate the streets of computer village with solar powered street lights.

The project was eventually commissioned on January 21, 2016 at the computer village, Ikeja, Lagos.

The managing Director of TECNO Telecoms ltd., Mr. Chidi Okonkwo said TECNO the company will continuously invest community-centric projects ot enhance the standard of living of the people in the country.

“It is proven that private corporations with strong community focus in their business agenda tend to prosper better than the other. We’ll like to use this avenue to encourage other businesses and corporations in the area to show commitment to community development by spearheading projects that have lasting impact on the community,” he said.

Dubbed the “Light up Ikeja” project, TECNO donated eighty-eight (88) high end solar-powered street lights, fully installed by Arthur Energy Technology Ltd to its Ikeja host as a token of appreciation for years of peaceful co-existence.

The iFLUX engineered street lights have two years warranty cover and will be constantly maintained for optimum operation by Carlcare, a subsidiary of TRANSSION Holdings as is the TECNO Mobile and iFLUX brands.

“We’re elated as an agency to see what TECNO has done here today and we look forward to partnerships between private corporations like TECNO, who are community-centric and the government to bring life changing projects to the people,” says Mr. Olufemi Odubiyi, the Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology.
